We, the Initiative Parkcafé Rehberge, are a large and diverse group from Wedding who want to breathe new life into the Parkcafé.
We want to transform the former restaurant into a self-managed neighborhood space with a solidarity café, an event space for art and culture, and a self-organized youth space. The future Parkcafé should be a non-commercial and communally managed place that is open to all people and groups from the neighborhood and beyond.
Our understanding is that accessibility to resources such as spaces, knowledge, and things are essential for a respectful, appreciative, and mindful coexistence. The Parkcafé should be such a place. And of course, visitors to the park should also be able to enjoy good coffee with delicious cake, as well as other freshly prepared food in the sun.
We are a neighborhood initiative and now also an association, which we have named Parkcafé Rehberge e.V. In the initiative, we organize ourselves using sociocracy. We work in different working groups as well as in plenary sessions. The working groups make autonomous decisions within the framework of their jointly agreed tasks. In all plenaries, we make decisions together according to the consent principle: this means that a decision is only made if none of those present has a serious objection. It's not about making perfect decisions, but about finding feasible solutions based on current knowledge and resources.
An open place of many languages, where young and old come together, learning together. Where everyone who shares our vision can connect and no one is left out. For communal self-determination. Against any form of discrimination and exclusion. To protect our members and our visitors, we exclude people who represent misanthropic and/or anti-democratic positions. We do not cooperate with people who publicly represent misanthropic and/or anti-democratic (antisemitic, racist, sexist, anti-queer, conspiracy ideological, etc.) positions.
Affordable prices for the most sustainable offerings possible. For a non-profit Parkcafé, a 'green' Rehberge, and a solidarity-based Wedding. Not profit, but the 'we' is in the foreground.
Together we create a neighborhood place of well-being, appreciative interaction, mutual help, and respect. We live co-determination in a transparent structure for a communal togetherness at eye level. We try to break down knowledge hierarchies and make decisions transparently using the sociocratic model.
We provide space for creativity and are open to all forms of creative expression. For cultural and culinary enjoyment.
